My staff nurses and I went through a day-long sonography instruction and assessment yesterday. We used Jan Rogerson for this and she did an excellent job. Most of you know Jan, and know that she was the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Director at El Centro College from 1983 until her recent retirement (2013) from that position. All of our staff nurses were very pleased with the classroom and hands-on instruction and felt better equipped for their role doing sonograms at Thrive. I would highly recommend using Jan when you have a need for this.

I can’t stop thanking you for all your help. You are the best. You have taught me so much about ultrasound. When I’m in class and the instructor is teaching about something I learned from you. I just want to say out loud Jan taught me that.

A great start for a foundation for a new sonographers
Jan is very knowledgeable in sonography and covered all of the topics required by AWHONN guidelines.

Jan was a great instructor and knew her information very well. She encouraged questions / comment. I appreciate how she integrated various styles of learning into her lectures.
I found the visual aids very helpful. The case studies were good examples. The patient scans in the afternoon helped solidify the classroom sessions. Her expertise in the area of ultrasound was excellent.
I liked the method of teaching with illustrations on PP slides and freedom to ask questions. Jan was thorough with each topic and welcomed questions and took time to answer. She had many hand-held examples to illustrate what she was teaching.
Liked the tangible analogies to further explain the physics, the baby models for visualization w/scanning techniques.
Although there was more information covered than I’ll use in my role, it was extremely valuable for understanding all that might be encountered. The style of teaching is excellent. I would suggest a review / refresher type course for nurses who have been scanning for several years.
The scanning process was a little chaotic because we were using a new machine and not going through the routine steps to obtain all images yet we learned a lot of tips during the scans. The visual preps were fabulous and helped put perspectives on hard concepts. It is a lot of info yet it is a great foundation that we can build on with time and practice. Thank you for your passion and knowledge on this topic.

Jan presented a very complicated subject & overview in a way that was easy to understand. Used lots of aids (visual, models, hands-on) to help educate us.
