Jan Schmeling Rogerson, M.S., Retired RDMS after 48 years
Jan Schmeling Rogerson earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center, Allied Health Education, in 1981. Her Master of Science degree major was in Education/Administration from the University of North Texas, 1987.
She was the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Director at El Centro College in Dallas, Texas from 1983 to 2013. Retiring in 2013, she now continues as adjunct faculty in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at El Centro College. She also worked as a Sonographer at Pregnancy Centers in Fort Worth for eight years.
Previously, Jan opened three ultrasound laboratories in Garland Community Hospital, Lewisville Memorial Hospital, and Flow Memorial Hospital.
She is past Contributing Editor for the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and past SDMS Director for Region 3 (responsible for members in seven states).
Jan is past Chairperson on the Continuing Medical Education Committee of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and has been a Site Evaluator for the Joint Review Committee for Diagnostic Medical Sonography since 1990.
She has worked with the World Health Organization to educate health care professionals in Indonesia. She has also participated in volunteer education trips to Mexico, Poland, and joined the Serving Him Medical Mission Group to Guatemala. She has worked with the People to People organization to provide ultrasound instruction to China.
